Went out to head off this morning and Jean had a flat battery.
No idea why.
I used the car yesterday and nothing was left on. Everything turns off automatically anyway but I do it manually.
I jumped her and all was good except I then had no radio (and consequently Bluetooth).
Called in at a dealership service centre. They had a look, checked the fuse which wasn't blown, said they didn't know why and I'd have to book it in, put the fuse back and the radio worked.
I didn't even lose any of the trip computer readings that were there before, such as fuel consumption, DTE, etc.
A mystery to me.  :Dunno:
But she's been good all day.

I was alone in the car yesterday, so only the driver's door used. It was definitely closed fully.
I just hope it doesn't die on me when I'm away from home.   :fingers:

Just wondering if it is the OEM battery - when my OEM battery was on the way out it still started the i30 almost every time.  But there were a instance where a low power discharge for 5-10 minutes caaused the car to fail to start.   Just wondering, something like a some cabin light (no idea how) stayed on - and it was enough to get the battery voltage too low.

Though no idea why the radio didn't start working after the jump - unless the cause was some low voltage protection that needed an on/off cycle?

It is the original battery and it has performed as normal since, so not sure.

Dave, all new cars ,use some battery power, even when standing. I have always kept a battery tender plugged in . Keeps them on full charge. I have a voltage tester I use that to test battery voltage. I think anything that has an ECU needs 11.5 volt just to run. I had an EFI petrol ute that was 12 month old that I had driven 60,000k in 12 months & wS runing perfect. Turned it off parked it for half hour. Came back it was dead would not start but had enough battery power to work the unlock key fob. Road service came, jump started it. From then on always kept eye on it and have used battery tender. & switch to Australian made Century Extra heavy Duty they are yellow. Never had one let me down.
On my motor bikes I will only use AGMtype battery as they are hard on battery's like trucks or off road 4wd's vibration n heat kill battery's. I liked magnito's & carb as no need for a battery only needed one to power lights at night. All this computerised gear uses lots of power so a good battery a must.
Good luck.

Nice find, Shambles!

Off topic but I have found that if I stall my car, my EPS still works for a few seconds even with the engine off. Must be a safety thing - in case you stall and need to urgently turn your steering wheel either way to avoid another vehicle/pedestrian/pole.

So I take it that just came out?   Wonder how that fits in, or doesn't, with the EPS update that relates to the EPS recall thing...
