Hi there,
New to this site but got a question for you all,
I have a 2012 1.6 CRDi bluedrive and I'm looking to gain abit more performance,
Would you recomend a CAI or a panel filter?
Also I want to have it chipped but don't know whether to have it professionally remapped or a plug in chip.
And has anyone had I sports exhaust put on the new diesel?

Thanks in advance  :D

Welcome Dan..

Sports exhaust added a bit better exhaust note to the old diesel but minimal difference to performance. Being that it is basically the same engine in the GD imagine much the same result.

Some of the tuning boxes sound tempting .. there are many fors and againsts on this site for Chips etc..

You are heading into risky territory.

Your car is fitted with a Diesel Particular Filter (DPF) which needs to be regenerated (automatically) when it starts to get clogged. The control of the DPF is intimately linked to the engine controls and it is almost certain that a tuning box will interfere with proper control of the DPF with very expensive results. This could also be true for engine re-mapping unless some specialist has been able to crack the Hyundai engine mapping algorithm and found a way of tweaking the settings without detrimental affect on DPF performance.

My advice to you is this - you bought a fine car with an excellent engine that you knew was tuned for economy - yet has excellent performance. Hyundai on the latest models are now able to read a hidden data log in the ECU to determine the history of all changes made to the factory settings. Messing with the engine tuning will certainly destroy your warranty and could cost you £1800 for a new DPF.

It just aint worth it.

Hi DanI30

Welcome to the forum.

Stay away from the plug in tuneboxes and have it professionally remapped if you must have more power.

I did do the plug in box and that ended bad. I will see if i can find my post about it.
