Non-hat wearing Volvo-style driving for economy?

Flame me if you will but I think I'm entering a new age bracket.

I always have my gauge selection on economy and enjoy 'tuning' my driving for the lowest possible figure, which is currently 4.1.

This means I may have become one of those despicable individuals who frequently drives 5 or 10 kph under the limit, so long as there's another lane and I'm not impeding traffic.

I've often fancied getting a sticker for the rear of the vehicle, like the truck speed limit advisories, only this would read something to the effect of "Drive" above the speed sign featuring a "-10" and "Green" under that.

Do you think there would be a market for that? Perhaps alongside the marked-down 2013 Mayan calendars?

Any sticker printers here with a business proposition?

I'll have 1 too, that's how I drive. I can get our Auto down to 5.2 l/100 this way.

I always drive at the speed limit when able to (down here on the way to work it varies from 80 - 100 - 110, with 50 in towns). With that I am still getting 5 l/100km, so about 1 l/100km more than Gonz. Still extremely happy with that. If I did drop my speed down by 10 km/h to save some fuel, I reckon I could get it down to 4.5 l/100k (southern Tassie is very hilly), so that would save me about 3.5 l/week, or at todays prices, a little more than $5. It would also add an extra 10 - 15 minutes to my trip each way, each day (I have a 75 km drive to work). So that would add approximately 2 hours to my commute. My time is worth more than $2.50 an hour (both at home and at work)!!

I am still very happy with the fuel economy of the diesel, but I really love the drivability that the torque provides.

Perfect.
I used to own two Volvos (at different times) many, many moons ago.
Firstly a 1979 244 GL manual and then a 1979 264 GLE.
Both were excellent cars.

I say SNORRREEE in the kindest way hehe. I love to get onto the highway and keep it in 4th and let it revv right up to 3.5k and see all the nice smoke come out the back whilst im wizzing past everyone! WOO! haha!! I love to sit on 110km/h and smash it all the way to work! I do drive normally most of the time but i do that most days getting onto the highway and average 5.2-5.5l/100. A totally fine and envied figure by many.

I wouldn't be doing anything to convince the Government it's ok to lower speed limits further...
