Last year I had quite a sour discussion about it with my dealer, when they wanted to charge 76 Euros for the pollen filter when I was in for the annual service. :fum: They weren't keen about the idea that I will replace it myself, possibly using cheap 3rd party filter. They firmly stated that if I want it to be excluded, they will not put stamp to the service book, and replacing it myself is not approved either because they can't know for sure it's been replaced using genuine part (or replaced at all). However, when I was about to march out they offered 20 Euros of discount for the pollen filter. The price must really be over-inflated if it was that easy to get such discount...

Toyota dealer tried that on with my wife's Corolla. About $90 fitted. About $20 for a Ryco filter at Super Cheap.

I get hay-fever - can get it very bad (chest infection) when doing certain things - so I haven't worried too much about them replacing it. Of course my next service (big 90k) will be outside of warranty - so I will probably change it myself in future.
When mowing the lawns I wear an organic vapor respirator - paper masks don't fit me well enough - while, to an extent, it is over the top (being it is the primary purpose I got it) in terms of filtering... it certainly works. And, of course, I can also use it for things it was designed for - vapuors from paint solvents/chemicals, etc., not that I am often dealing with them.

. I checked mine for a 2 years old car is very dirty but will make sure I check it and change it whenever I do a servicing If I have to and its a 5 mins job.
