Must be a dodgy one....

Hopefully the new one will be better.  Otherwise it will be an expensive 5 years for Hyundai

If I was a Service Manager I would be doing some butt kicking....  'Tested Ok did it... How/Where did you test it?  Because I just had to go for a ride with the owner, who returned moments after leaving, and the problem he brought it in for was still there.  So you tested it??'

Doesn't matter how good the owner/ manager is, you'll always have some bastard who'll let you down sometime.
You can put every system known to man in place and someone will still find a way to beat it or just plain ignore it.

Oh yes - which is why I said butt kicking... didn't mention any other management systems... kicking butt can be effective sometimes.  :D

But unfortunately likely to get you in trouble with the labour laws these days.

Mind you the same bloke who went for a ride with me, was yelling at a mechanic to "hurry up and get it out" in relation to another vehicle when I came back into the office....

I probably would have asked why it was taking so long and if there was a problem.

Rang today (given they were going to ring me in a couple of days and definitely before Easter). Old mate I spoke to checked the records, no record of our discussion......which I take to mean SFA has been done....

Was going to ring me back in half an hour once he had spoken to the head guy.... Guess what, still waiting...... :disapp:

I had better get a phone call early tomorrow....Otherwise I might be emailing the CEO of AFG and pointing out I was interested in investing in the company, until I experienced their so called service first hand. No company can expect to survive with service levels like this....

Beerman,  what's AFG?
I thought Zupps was your dealer.  Did I miss something?

Got the repair done today. Most of the delay was Hyundai's the last week and a half mine (much easier for with my work schedule, plus today got me a loan car).

Replaced RH CV shaft (part HY495013z550 for those playing at home)

Job description says "RH CV shaft clamp had come free allowing greese to leak causing shaft failure".

Funny last time we tightened a bolt??? if the clamp was free wouldn't it have been obvious then?

They did drive it 8.4km......

I sort of heard it on the way home yesterday, but it was faint. I went for a drive to the shops and it was there as bold as ever. Took the young bloke to footy training and it wasn't as obvious.... I have 3 runs to the coast and back over the weekend to see how she rolls.

Booked in for Wednesday....

Yeah mate if you have the time to pop in, feel free to take her for a spin.

Just don't be to heavy handed, I don't like seeing her go over 6l/100

It's having a sleepover at Hyundai tonight....Old mate went for another drive with me, heard the noise and had NFI what it was.

Told me it is almost impossible to diagnose and that he would speak to Hyundai to find out what to do next.

I hadn't even made it home when I got a phonecall that it had been looked at and they were ordering a part from Sydney. Should be in by lunch tomorrow. Hopefully this will be the fix.

Got a new Petrol i30 to drive today. A lot of car for the money (20k), is spirited to drive, if not a little thirsty. It is a shame that the sun makes the reversing camera a little difficult to use. Still reckon I would stump up the 23k for the diesel.

I can see why they are flying out the door at 20k.

20k sounds like a great price.
20,000 AUD = 9,970.13 GBP according to Google.
Even via a broker a 1.4 petrol i30 S costs 11,666 GBP (23404.16 AUD) and we don't get a reversing camera below SE Nav. :crazy1:

Got the i40 back today, replaced the strut mount and tested. No further noise.

You guessed I heard the noise on what must be my most hated right hand turn (out of the dealership)  :crazy1: :head_knock:
