All Aussie delivered were 2.7lt 6-speed and boy they go good.

Yep! Its a GK/Coupe/Tuscani Tiburon etc. Very nice, unsophisticated car, but boy, is it thirsty!

Nup we did get the 2.0 beta in Australia too. It was discontinued about 2 years into production here.
The 2.7 looked good on paper, but was heavy and took the edge off its performance.

The 2.7 Delta can actually fit into the XD Elantra

Both engines are Hyundai reworks of Mitsubishi units as I understand it. The 2.0 is very torquey...it pulls like a train, but not a great commuter in traffic if you likes yer mpg being above 30. Very very good motorway cruiser. I use it as a Friday/Weekend car, and its going to be off the road during the winter months.

I loved my 2 litre XD Elantra. I agree the torque from that engine was excellent. It had plenty of go in the higher end too.
