New Member Dima (from Russia) has asked for help with pulling his i30 headlights apart (without breaking them)

I am guessing they are the newer ones with the Dark refectors which are apparently even harder to separate..

So what is the goss.. anyone successfully parted and put them back together.. What are the tricks?

you need a good heat gun,it softens the glue so you can pull them apart.  :winker: thumper did his by putting them in his oven on a low heat.  :scared:  i hope this helps you out.  :goodjob2: :goodjob:

I think it might be best to leave them as they are Dima.. If you haven't already destroyed them (it appears they aren't designed to be parted)  :undecided:

Dima, Your Translations are hard to understand. You may need to get Russian Member "meehalych" to help translate if he doesn't mind... :whistler:

Most battered cars would have battered headlights I imagine  :winker:

It appears the silver reflector lights MAY have been SLIGHTLY easier to open but you would still have to be very careful not to damage them..

What if it got battered from behind  :whistler: They'd still be ok.

In Australia I think they are A$300-$400 each.. But still no guarantee than can be separated...

I'd be doing some other modification (there are plenty of others to choose)

Me possibly  :D

Allow me to introduce myself (= Sye/Syecadelic/Simon/You there,

You can't separate the new (facelift type) model. A completely different glue is used, possibly of better strong quality to prevent in the off chance condensation inside the unit

Even sharkracing, who have done many over the years couldn't succeed, you can actually see where the join of the lense has started to melt in their attempts.

If you can get hold of an original (all chrome) set then its a matter of running a heat gun round the seal and voila. eBay should source you a set easy enough, make sure its the correct unit for your country, (left hand drive I presume?) as the beam pattern will differ from the other side. :)

Hope this helps, any other help just ask :)

Cheers guys,
even until this day i love them, I think it was the fact I put so much work into them.
I have an old spare set, without the angel eyes, i want to separate again and maybe colour code the 'now black' with the red of the car, to see how it looks.
seen a ferarri with it done, and it looked awesome.. but then again it was a ferarri.
