I’m becoming increasingly annoyed by the air conditioning randomly defaulting to circulate air to the feet when the car is switched on. I don’t like it and having to change it to the circulate to the face almost every time I hop into the car. Anyone else experienced this and knows a work around?

Hmm, this doesn't happen in my model.  As far as I recall the last setting remains upon restart.  Maybe drop by/call your dealer if it's still under warranty unless others here find the same behavior that you've described.

don't leave the fan switched on when you start the car.   give it a try.

There is a combination of button presses to turn the Auto function off I believe ( Our Hybrid Camry does similar things to what our SLX i30 used to.. it is quite annoying) I think I prefer the manual set up in cars like the Wifes CW SX model...

In my car the aircon allways starts on whatever position it was in, when I stopped the car.

Maybe yours doesn't have Auto climate control.. which changes all the time according to the temperature it is set at and the ambient conditions...?

Ours has auto, but I think ALL are able to be programmed to stop auto A/C turning on at start up. I found that very annoying and stopped it. It turns on now only if I select it. It's in the manual.

I do find it somewhat amusing that you can buy a car with "Automatic Climate Control" and then complain because it operates "Automatically".  It is after all, just a press of the button to change it.  I leave the climate control on Auto the whole time, if I don't like where the climate control is routing the air, then I change it.  It is like the tourist going overseas to see different things, then complain because it is not the same.

I think it is a good show for our cars in their reliability, drivability and general all around happiness that we are complaining about a small thing like our automatic climate control's choice of airflow.  It's not as though the brakes always pull to the left, the steering is heavy, you get crap mileage and you paid a fortune for it.

My two cents.
