Got a question.  Is it safe to take a hose and spray down the engine compartment? Seems to me with all the rain we have had in NSW, my car has developed a bug, well a handful of ants to be exact. Dont know if its a nest or something sweet just dripped on my car and they are just there for the taking. Havent got them inside, just the outside. Stumbled across them after checking my car at the servo from running over a rabbit.

I've degreased the engine bay a couple of times and lightly sprayed the residue away with no ill effects... 

Just try to keep the spray away as much as possible from any electrics...

There's two schools of thought on this.
However, in your case, why don't you buy a can of Mortein and spray it around the engine bay, staying away from direct contact with the obvious electrical components. Use a surface spray. That should rid you of them.

I have this mental image of the guy on the TV ad who goes out side and stares lovingly up at his roof (maybe Colorbond??).
But it's the Reaper, lifting his bonnet and gazing happily into the engine bay (no ants), before rushing back inside before his break ends.
