Hi folks my name is pamrich. I own a i30 crdi 11 months old with 59,000 km on the clock and no problwms as yet. I genrally keep my cars for 450,000 to 500,000 km
so hope this car lives up to its promise. I use castrol magnatec diesel and change oil every 5,000 km, dealer is happy with this !! though i do the 5,000 changes myself.
I have had none of the problems posted by you as yet, maybe I got a good one.
Fitting Pirrelli p6s all round made a big difference to steering.

Hi pamrich, interesting oil regime you have - and apparently very successful. However, I think that oil is mineral and only meets ACEA B3 specification. B4 is required. I'd check directly with Hy that they are happy with its use.

You might find yourself in the middle if Hy reject any oil related warranty claim. You would then be trying to get the dealer to pay for it!

Just a thought.

Welcome pamrich...59,000 in 11 months is a good number.. Not sure about the problems you are referring to? We have over 1700 accepted members on here (and more than 100 other banned ones ) and the % of those with problems (mostly minor) is very low...

You might be better going up to a higher grade oil and changing every 10,000kms.. (especially since you do a lot of kms..) cost should work out about the same overall (or a bit in your favour)  :D

Hi Pamrich,

I am new myself. I reiterate what the other guys have said about the oil. I used to work for a couple of petroleum Coy's and "oils ain't oils sol". But I would suggest you go with Castrol Edge Sport 5w-30 which is what my Hyundai dealer is using and I also use. I do what you do and change oil more regularly (every 6 months). Don't forget when you turn off the engine that turbo is still spinning and must need a top quality oil for protection and Magnatec just is not rated for our new diesels. I reckon you could have warranty issues unless you use the "good oil". I would also stick with one brand and type (don't top up with a different oil unless you have to) because different oils have different additives which may react and cause sludges which may inhibit good lubrication.

regards Olddude
