Hello everyone, My name is Jim and I purchased my 2011 Elantra Touring SE Manual, in Chilipepper Red w/ Tan interior, about 2 weeks ago.  Found the car by accident, just as I found this forum by accident.  Was originally looking for a smaller 5 door for my back and forth to work / bicycle hauling needs, but happened upon a fully loaded Touring in my local Hyundai dealers lot and my interest was peaked.  Then, knowing I am a cheapskate, they said they had a GLS 5-speed still in prep on the back lot for about $5000 less.  So took it for a spin and loved it.  There was a big power difference compared to the 02 VW 1.8L 5-speed Turbo I traded, but I am not worried about impressing anyone and this car handles great.  It will work nicely on my move to California next March!

So now goes the process of turning my new Touring into my own creation!  Will be using this forum for lots of help and questions.   Already had the dealers add the aftermarket permanent roof rack, which looks better than stock IMHO, and also added aftermarket cruise control.  I would preferred wheel mounted controls, but not available on my model, so I have a stalk added under my turn signal stem that controls my cruise.  It works quite well, so no complaints.  Now to find some stock Hyundai 17" wheels to replace the steel 15"s on my car and better cover for my steering wheel, as I do not care for the feel of the stock GLS wheel and a new manual shift knob, as it has the same feel as the steering wheel.  OK, enough about me, thank you all for your time and future help!

Jim

Welcome Jim.. Interesting 1st post.. :goodjob: Like to see a photo with the different roof racks..  :D

Some dude  :winker: put a video on here showing how easy to put a spoiler on the wagon and the new Sonata (17") alloys fit the touring too  :goodjob: (but probably a bit expensive for a tight a$$ with new 17" tyres to match)..

Thank you all for the kind welcome.  I will upload a pic or two of the Touring with the roof racks as soon as I find my dig cameras power cord to recharge it.  But, I have a cell pic of the day I brought it home before I had the roof racks and cruise control installed.

Welcome, Jim,
Since you got the roof rails, it will be perfect if rear spoiler & 17" are installed.  :goodjob:
