Hi Lorian!
Great news! :)

And before anyone says it, yes I read everything having too much spare time on my hands. I have been recovering from an operation for the last couple of weeks. Thinking about cars has helped me to ignore the pain. Getting much better now thankfully.
-
Gee I hope that comes here soon ...

If they also come with integrated bluetooth in the audio unit it will leave very little to complain about for the entire car! Now that would be something.

I just drove Newcastle to Brisbane and back... (1500Kms ish)
That 6 speed box would have dropped the fuel usage from 4.9 l/hkm to something legendary !
Bring it on.

From a good source, but dont sue me if its wrong: all newly produced (European, Czech factory only at present) 1.6CRDi with the U2 engine will be fitted with the new 6 speed manual gearbox (unless its an automatic!)
This new design gearbox has 3 main changes over the five speed:
- Slightly better fuel consumption, around 2-3mpg I believe
- Quieter (thanks to redesigned gears cogs)
- Improved sync on 1st and 2nd gears - 3 sync rings up from 2
- Improved durability, some brass parts being replaced with carbon fibre

Yeah that 6-speed gearbox really is bright light in these cars..
The main (-) for me in i30 and other Hyundai's is the gearbox.. 6-speed gearbox would really be great.. At speeds 130-140 kph, you could drive with about 2,500 rpm.. That would be great

UK Website now names this new variant as model 2009.5.MY
IE "2009 and a half model year"
