I thought it was summer down under this time of the year.

Is it normal with that kind of weather in your summers. 

Only the last 10 years or so since the world's weather has gone haywire...

Obviously, there has always been exceptions but Perth , Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane (Capital cities of some of our larger states have had bad hail damage events in the case of Melbourne, several I think) There were 9 cars damaged at one house this time 

It is cyclone season in the more northly States.. So that is not so unusual...

Maybe not so warm as yours, but more secure. We don't have hurricanes or cyclones or any kind of bad weather like that.

Severe spring and summer thunderstorms with hail have been a part of Queensland for longer than 10 years Dazz. And their intensity is no more than it was when I was much younger.

no damage in my area.  but only 5kms away the hail was the size of billiard balls. 
this summer has been very tropical with temps of 25-35c and thunder storms every second day.

Quite normal for Queensland, but unusual for the southern states, same thing happening in South Australia, although no damage as yet.

Lived in Brisbane for 9 months as a lad. Remember walking home in tropical storm, giant raindrops, didn't hurry, it was so warm. Down here if it rains, it's very uncomfortably cold.

tonight's news mentioned that massive storm was headed towards Tasmania.  the news said the storm would give the Sydney to hobart racing yachts grief on their way to hobart.

My synoptic chart shows it to be quite cool in the mid to upper regions with the possibility of frost on the extremities (tips).
But following Christmas, there is plenty of constant warm air blowing up from the south which is quite normal for this time of year. 
The forecast for tomorrow is for much of the same with the possibility of some follow-through from the lower regions.
Some dampness during the night is likely and come morning it is expected that the wind will subside considerably.
What the weather is like outside, I have absolutely no idea.

Just seen the news. Today is the warmest 26/12 ever in Denmark since they started to measure the temperature in 1874

Amen to that. This time last year we had to dig our cars out of the snow... I damaged an alloy rim and my heating bills hit the roof
