I was listening to the radio today in relation to the fires in New South Wales alone.
They currently have 135 fires raging across the state, with 30 of them still uncontrolled.
Yesterday was about 40 degrees, today is about 20 degrees, so they are catching up on controlling the fires.
But the weekend is bring temperatures back in the 40's again.
The second largest fire they are fighting is nine and a half thousand hectares in size.
In addition to these, bear in mind we have fires in South Australia and Tasmania and I heard today that 120 houses have been lost in Tassie and there are still people missing, although no bodies have yet been found.

The worst bit Dave is there is a lot of the fire season left (In the past some of the worst ones have been in Feb and March)

42 Deg c tomorrow, hot dry north winds, tinder dry country total fire bans. It could be our turn to burn, sincerely hope not.

We have reticulated water, a tank & no trees so not personally worried, but a bad situation brewing.

Currently 30C down here, 280 km south of Sydney.  Forecast 37C then a cool southerly change coming up late arvo.   When we get a couple of real hot days on the south coast, we generally get a clearing southerly from the Antarctic, which cool thing down to a pleasant 25C in summer, that is forecast for tomorrow.

Just back from the beach, lubberly jubberly.   I hope our British friends are not feeling the cold over there.

I don't want it  It maxed out about 2 hours ago at 45.6 or something and has thankfully cooled down now to a chilly 42.3 (I'll be needing a jumper soon  )
