Hi,

I have a 2007, 1.6 diesel i30 and have not had a single problem with it...until this evening.

I went to start the engine and it tries to start, but doesn't...you can hear it winding, but it doesnt kick in.

Tried jumping it, but to no avail....tried also running it down a hill in second gear, and it wont start.

I had an interim service conducted 10,000km ago. It has 102,000km on the clock.

Battery looks good as all electronics are working.

No lights on the dashboard indicating that anything is wrong.

Any ideas??

Have you got a second key?

I suspect the security chip in the key you are trying to start the car with is stuffed.  Happened to me once.  A Serbian member told me to try the other key after I posted on here and sure enough, it worked.

Worth a try.

Hi kinsells.

Welcome to the forum.

There is a sensor at the crankshaft who needs to detect the crankshaft rotating. If this signal is missing, the ecu will not deliver fuel.

Have you had a fault code reader attached to the ecu to see if there's any fault codes detected..

Welcome. sorry to hear about your trouble

Hopefully it is something minor like the immobiliser (you probably don't have a 2nd key though)  :Pout:

You could try disconnecting the battery for say 30 minutes (to reset the ecu) but then you would have to reset the clock and you might need a security pin?

These things would happen after your warranty has run out  :fum:
