about 5 litres buy I wouldn't try and see if that is correct in case it runs out.

If it does you have to prime the system which I'm told can be a nightmare and may require specialist help.

i would Agree that it would be close to 5Lt left, but i'm not sure if they can keep runing to the very last drop, more important is what distance you could drive after light comes on, you can't use a trip computer as a 100% accurate gide, as if you were driving @ a constant 60mph for the past 300mile then when you had fuel light come on your in heavy traffic, the trip computer would be telling you you could go much further than you realy could, best thing is to fill up within say 20 miles althoughg i managed to go 100k with my light on once in the country, thats about 60 miles.
i think these new Common Rail Diesels self prime if you run out of fuel, but its not easy to start, a few things you need to know, you put some fuel in tank then you need to have car on leavel ground not on a hill, you give the button on fuel filter a pump then turn motor over, sometimes takes a few goes at turning motor over, you keep them turning ( like hold key starter on a lot longer than normal ) you give it a few goes like that and the start, unless your battery is low. but not a good idea to run out. i helped my nephew start his almost new Common Rail Diesel SUV when he ran out.

The light usually goes on when you have 90 km's left (approx 56 miles). When you reach the "50 km's left" point, you get those -------- Well I did once or twice around 45 km's from that point and it didn't stop... I don't enjoy in that, really. Once the gas station was under construction and the other time it was closed (i missed it for 2-3 mins).

I'm a bit confused by the posts. I get nowhere near some of the figures quoted.

According to the manual, my i30 has a 53 litre fuel tank but I regularly put more than 53 litres in when filling. The most I have ever put in the tank is 56.7 litres. By the way, I'm a full to the brim person (stuff those waiting in line for the diesel pump  )

Today I traveled 28km after the warning lamp came on before filling up. The car took 55.4 litres and the trip meter was 752km.

My calculations showed my consumption on that tank was 7.37 lt/100k or 13.576 km/lt. As I traveled 28 Km from when the light came on, I used  2.06 litres between the warning light and the fill up.  :blubber: :blubber: :blubber: :blubber:

Assuming I can only get  57 litres in the tank and I put in 56.7, I only had 0.3 litres let. If you add that 0.3 to the 2.06 litres I used getting to the petrol station, I reckon the best I can do from when the warning light comes on  is around 30km.

I would have hoped for more than that, but unless my i30 takes more than 57 litres, that's all I can get.

I have put around 57.3 L twice in the tank. The trip meter was showing me then ~60km left.
