So today i got the new tyres fitted to the rims and here are the results   :happydance:  :happydance:

before

after

happy wife, happy life!!

and she was oh so proud of her dirty hands!!

overall the ride hasn't changed, atleast it doesn't feel any different. The steering feels a heap more precise and responsive, and at speeds above 40km/hr there is a noticable increase in road noise, but not what you would call excessive or annoying.

Overall very happy with the results, but kinda wish i had of got 19's because the 18's don't actually look that big in the i30's mammoth gaurds, but i'm sure when i lower it the proportions will look a whole lot better.

Looks great.  I'll keep an eye out for it around Toowoomba before I head south.  There are plenty of Continental Silver i30's driving around town (including mine), your's definitely has the nicest rims though.

Splendid !  :goodjob2: is it 215/45/18 or 225/40/18 ? is that okay for absolute steering ?
by the way, she looks like a movie star who I forgot the name.  :D

I'm normally not fond of dark rims, but must say these rims look very nice on your silver i30  :goodjob2:

Matt.

Gonna hang onto the old wheels for a while, need one for a spare although I've got a fifth 18" coming, but when the cars gotta go back to the dealer for anything I wanna slap the stockos back on, just to avoid any drama or raised eyebrows

:happydance: I love my new wheels!  :happydance: I don't think the black would have suited if the car didn't recently get tinted. Can't wait to get the black bezel head lights.

Now to add some more things  :D

What's your offset on these? Did you need spacers?

Just so you know. We're not talking about spacer blocks between the wheel and the hub here.
There is a Hyundai part which fits into the steering rack when 17' wheels are fitted.
You may already know this but I thought it best to mention it in case.

Surferdude - what are these steering rack spacers you mention? Its the first time I've heard of this. Could you explain or provide pictures? would I need one if I change to 18" wheels?

Surferdude,

I would also like to know, I have been running 17" Advanti Europa's on mine for nearly 50K kms and was at the type place when they were fitted. (Watched them do it) no spacers were ever fitted to mine anywhere. Would be good to know if they should have fitted some?

Komaterpillar, car looks great, I knew I should have gone for 18" but at the time the type place & myself were worried about the rules & Regs, you even got the some colour as my beast.

gday all
the wheels i fitted are 18 x 7.5's with +45 offset, although there is heaps of clearance and i'm quite confident you could fit a 19 x 8.5 wheel with the right offset. the spacers in question are for the steering rack to limit the full lock angle, but our car never had them and i never fitted them with the 18's and no scrubbing in the 14 months the wheels have been on the car

this is the thread i started when i was working out what would fit on the car https://www.i30ownersclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=13838.msg151979#msg151979

haha she was holding the old wheel nuts

You need TSB SE07207 but I can't help you with a copy.

It deals with installing 2 steering rack spacers (P# AL522-1H100) on SX and SLX models.
Stops the tyres on the 17x7 SR rims from rubbing on the body of these 'lower' models.
