The drivers side rear calliper seized on , not hard but enough to smoke when stationary , you could feel the heat radiating from the disc with your hand 3 inches from the wheel. Dealer replace calliper with no problem but had to pay £45 for pads (they were due for replacement soon anyway) discs were not damaged and again are due for replacement soon.

It's not a first per se. But definitely a first on here.

Normally only happens AFTER a pad change when the piston has been pushed back into the caliper slightly off centre. Or the pads have been worn down so far that grime attached to the piston is in contact with the seal after new pads are fitted.
Sometimes one piston can get a bit sticky during the pad life and one pad will wear more quickly because of it. But an astute mechanic will notice this and recommend a caliper overhaul.

I thought it might be a first ! I originally took it to my local brake specialist who said calliper seized and they wanted £235 to replace it (inc pads) I told them to hang on as it could be under warranty , which they were surprised at , called dealer explained problem , they ordered one for next day. The brake specialist didn't sound that pleased when I told them to put it all back together, and to their credit didn't charge for their time.
