I just had new tyres fitted: Continental Premium Contact 2 (195/65 R15) for $465.00 total.  Included in the deal was a $50 Coles Group and Myer gift card.

The original Kumho Solus tyres had done 84,993 klms.

(The gift card promo finishes 30 April; 15-16 inch tyres get $50 card; 17 inch tyres get $80 card; 14 inch tyres are not eligible for card).

That sounds like a good deal provided it was for four.
It's a shame your old ones didn't make 85,000 kms though.

85,000 klms is great.

The Contis should be nice and quiet as well as handle nicely.

Mine are bad, but not that bad.
I replaced the original Hankooks at 29,000 with Goodyears.
They have 30,000 on them right now (60K service in a couple of weeks), and only about one third worn.
And I don't hang around.  :whistler:

I'm up to 62,000km now on the original tyres, and like Trev, I don't hang around either.  I will be looking for new tyres in the next couple of months, when a special or deal appears more than likely.

Must be the heat Rick! I used to wear my tyres out in around 30,000 when I was younger but usually get around 50K now.

Yes, I did buy 4 new tyres for the total cost of $465.00.  To get almost 85,000 klms out of the originals I must be just a slow driver.  I could have squeezed more klms out of them but the inside edges were getting quite worn.  I had been thinking of buying fuel-saver tyres but ended up with these Contis.

Now I have my spare tyre again.

@Eureka

Perhaps you could describe the type of driving and your style, there may be some tips that may help some of our members extend their tyre life too. What pressure do you use etc. Your figures are exceptional.  :goodjob2:

They sure are! I'm due for a new set right now and would take the latest advice on choice of tyre from all comers. I thought I was doing OK heading to 50Mm (Engineer's insistence on using the metric system in its purest form  :P) but I clearly have a lot to learn to get to 85Mm.  :happydance:

Would be interesting to know how they compare noise wise to the Comfort Contact CC5's I fitted to my i30...  :undecided:

I got 68,000 kms out of my first set and I drive normally AND I live in W.A.
The seconds set were on 68,000 when I sold the car but still had heaps of tread left.

I got around 55,000k's which I thought was fairly reasonable for the sort of driving I do.  :undecided:

There tyre dealers here in Adelaide tell me that the roads are so badly built that wear and alignment are pretty bad.

I don't slow down for anything, what ever is the posted speed that's what I do,corner warning speeds are just that, warning signs,so if I come across a 80 or 90 KPH warning corner,110 KPH is the go for me,mind you I travel the same roads day in day out ten trips a week, wouldn't do this on unfamiliar roads,I'm stoopid but not that stoopid.

Bruces first set of tyre's got just shy of 41,000 K's, five wheel trye rotation every 5000 K's,I did miss one rotation,I suspect I could have pushed another five out of them, but chose not to, second set(ones on there now)cheapies, after speaking to a Hy tech he informed me due to the wheel set up on the Hyundai's,five wheel rotation shouldn't be really practiced only back to front,so this is what I have been doing with the second set, always run my tyres at 40 PSI.

Cyril is a different story,I have run 17" rims on him, been running 215x45x17 first set did about the same milage, second set is now on 27,000K's not even half worn, not sure whether the larger tyres wear better.

I just take it easy when I drive.  I don't accelerate hard and I try to drive, most of the time, for economy.  I swap the tyres front to back about every 10,000 klms.   I only started using higher tyre pressures recently - after seeing higher pressures recommended by forum members here - so for most of the 84,993 klms on the original Kumhos they probably had 32 psi, and I wasn't checking them that often back then.

Using my bicycle tyre pump, which has a gauge attached, I have set the new tyres at 36 back and 38 front.
