Last couple of miles into work I heard the familiar sound of acoustic feedback from the front? brakes.

You know the one, that annoying tinny scrapy rattle whether the brakes are being applied or not?

Actually couldn't determine whether it was front or rear, so I've been out with a mirror trying to get a better look, but the mirror's too big.

Now normally I'd get the pads (already costed up from eBay) and fit them myself, as I do with the RAV4, but with the weather as it is I've decided to let Mr H do the job, at a reasonable cost of £175 for all corners. Fitted tomorrow.

Disks are fine, no need to replace them I don't think, though there's a highly visible (and very shiny) scoring around the top and bottom "lip" on each rotor.

How many kms is that?

Yeah they were fine then, but yesterday I was driving over the moors around Rivington and mistook a puddle for a pothole.

Excuse the language (not mine, the missus')

26 seconds in...

I don't think it helped my brakes  :blubber:

I appreciate the offer Keith. You could paint my inserts while the wheels were off ;)

Asking a dealer to change brake pads really grates me, as it's the kind of thing I do myself given time. Sadly, time and weather are against me and I'm not sure what I'm now driving is all that safe at the mo

I'll tell you what though... I'm not sure if it's my imagination or the Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) system, but it felt like the front kept dipping keenly when I had to brake on the way home from work :scared:

I had that happen when I had my little Holden Barina.
Being broke at the time I extended the life of my brake pads by grinding down the tin.... :whistler:  :-[

Don't have an accident Steve, your insurers will duck for cover, when they measure your non existent linings. :fum:

Yep. Picked her up at 12:00. Very happy, as I got a full valet (inside & out), a complete safety check and they sparkled up my alloys too.

I only have to breathe near the brake pedal and my face is almost through the windscreen :D

However, I have to say the valet & safety check make it a Job well done.

Do they know of your i30 Owners Club involvement Steve?
