Title: Removing door mirror??
Post by: handyman on January 13, 2016, 11:39:05
Hi All - new to the forum but have owned my car for just over a year.
My car is a 2013 i30 Active 1.6 TDI
I have damaged the drivers side door mirror, and fortunately managed to locate a used replacement.
I have read the excellent article on the forum on removing the damaged mirror but... the bit that says "grasp the triangular plastic trim and pull it towards the steering wheel" - mine doesn't have a tweeter (probably not relevant) but I have tried and tried to remove it to access the securing screws.
I am afraid to apply too much force as I fear I may break it.
Am I missing something?
Does it have to come out one edge first?
The lower edge is kind of under the door trim anyway?
All suggestions welcomed!

I am assuming that you've removed the glass and undone the screws holding the who assembly shell in place.....

Although on second thought, yours might differ from mine as mine is now becoming a vintage model...

Good luck  :goodjob:

No, I need to remove the whole unit from the door.

I can see on the replacement it is held in place by three screws which are accessed from inside the car, but I can't get the black plastic trim off which covers the screws.

Nice post Phil - looks like it just needs a touch of brute force with a plastic spoon.

Note, other types of spoon are available :whistler:
