I notice the Mazda 3 has both a Hatch and a sedan version.
Hyundai splits its Hatch (i30) and sedan (Elantra) into two separate models.
Not sure why as IMO they're as alike as the two Mazda 3 options.

Good point Trev (but I guess it is partly Hyundais fault for giving them different names)

My daughter contributed to the Mazda 3 sales figures.  :(
But then I contributed to the Hyundai i30 sales.  :D

So you're one in 28,000.
She's only one in 44,000.

I guess there's a category below "Small Cars" where the Accent fits.
"Compact"?

But the Elantra and i30 are 2 different cars aren't they?.... :undecided:
Their wheelbase, length, width and height are both different.....
They do share the same petrol engine but that's about it, isn't it?

I tend to agree, Rusty.
In North America where they call the i30 the Elantra it's the same as far as I know.
I think they are two different models here, although built on the same platform.
I'm happy to sit corrected though.  :)

Pretty sure it's the Elantra GT that is the same as the i30 in North America.
Their Elantra is the same as our Elantra...  :)

you also have to remember the Mazda3 has a very big range, you might think the i30 now has a big range, but the mazda3 has about three or 4 different motors i think & different brakes gearbox's & power levels, very hard to compeat but. i think for an owner its better to have it like Hy have the i30, as much simpler when ordering parts & so on. i think the Mazda has diesel still? & they have base 2.0 petrol , the SP25 2.5 petrol & the MPS turbo petrol. it's more than just looks you can get what you really want or hope you can in the Mazda3 line up. like the performance differences are huge in that line up. you would get a customer not like this or that, but if they said this is a bit slugish, they just take them for a drive in next performance level up. too bad about economy.
