Yeah I know one is hi and the other is low... Stopped at at the Caltex just before easter to put in my first tank of Diesel ever and was faced with a choise of pumps, Didn't read the instruction signs ( as usual) and filled up with the Hiflow. Whne I got back in the car my better half pointed out the sign that instructs the Hiflow is for trucks.

It seemed to fill OK and quickly.  Does anyone else use the Hiflow pumps or should I aim for the Loflow pump in future.

i own petrol i30s so i cant comment on wether its best to fill with a high or lowfill pump.the only difference is the highfill pump fills faster than a lowfill pump.the nozzle on the high fill pump is usually larger in diameter to give a faster fill. a diesel owner will no doubt tell you the dos and donts on filling a crdi.

The nozzle is usually bigger than the standard nozzle, and you are quite likely to end up with diesel sprayed all over you and the car if you're not paying attention

If you live in some country locations you don't have a choice.  Hi-flow or no-flow, that's it.  At least the i30 will accept the larger nozzle.  Some manufacturers have only got a small filler pipe and you are stuck when trying to get fuel in remote areas.

Almost all Diesel pumps in Sweden is for both cars and trucks.
You select with a button on the pump if you want Hiflow or Lowflow...

The hiflow is pretty much designed for those 80-100 gallon tanks in the big semi trailer type tanks.  More common in truck-stops and country areas.
They can deliver the dieso at a HUGE rate.

I haven't tried to use it, as I have always been worried about blow back controls, frothing, and the like shutting off the pump.

Lowflow fills the small i30 tank in no time anyhow... and usually with not much frothing.

On the flip side, I would hate to be filling FOUR massive semi trailer tanks on LOFLOW. Could take a few DAYS !!!!!!

The few times I did try the hi-flow nozzle I guess I was fairly "ginger" with the trigger, certainly didn't go full bore

Here in UK if the fuel is flowing to fast and there is "blow back" the pump nozzle has a sensor which automatically cuts off the fuel delivery.

Yeah we have that here too but I reckon if you stuck the high flow Nozzle in and held the trigger on full there would still be a messy "splash" before the bowser had time to cut out..

The other thing is; it's a pain the backside when the pump shuts off every few seconds... you have to release the trigger and start again, and again, and again etc.
