Title: 2020 Nline oil usage
Post by: filthyPierre on December 07, 2020, 00:41:16
Hi there,

My 2020 NLine (DCT) has around 7400 klicks on the clock. Yesterday after washing her I checked the fluids.. Was surprised, and a little concerned, to find that the oil level was below halfway between L and F.

Last few times I checked, it was at F. It's been a couple of months since I last checked; yes, I know I should check more often, but after finding no issues I guess I became complacent. My last petrol-engined car was a 2007 Mazda 6 that I had for 8 years and it never used a drop between services, so I guess I wrongly assumed the i30 was the same.

Anyone else experienced this? Is the Gamma 1.6 turbo known for using oil? Or is it just a side effect of the engine run-in?

I will be buying some oil today to top it up, any recommendations? I was thinking Penrite 5W-30 full synthetic which is ACEA A5/B5 as specified in the manual.

Cheers,

Pete

Cant say I've lost oil ever in my 1.6, not a turbo though.

Penrite full synthetic A5B5 is great oil, also comes in the Penrite Racing 5, 5W-30 A5B5 PAO oil (true synthetic) which is my personal preference :goodjob2:
