i had another look to see if i have a glove box light and it seems the only way it does work is if the headlights are turned on,it doesn't make sense to me.
I think that is standard these days, why else would you need the glovebox light to come on other than when you have the other lights on to see?

Yes, but the passenger only needs a light for the glovebox when you would have the main lights (ie side or headlights) on also, no need for the light to be switched other than via the main light switch surely??

Therefore the i30 does the job correctly, you are the passenger, it is night, your chauffeur is taking you home, you need to get that last can of Red Bull out of the chiller to add to your final swig of voddy, you open the glovebox and the light comes on, illuminating your RB and not distracting the (wo)man in the peaked cap beside you from their task.If you find the glovebox is dark then you need to tell the driver to put his lights on coz it's illegal to drive without 'em in the dark
try seeing in the glovebox when you come to get something out at night, you need to put the key in and put the lights on just to get something out of it.its a lot of messing about just to see what your looking for.
