Warning to all I30 diesel owners

Believe what you may, that is your privilege.

I'm quoting actual digital figures supplied from the Sorento ECU as displayed on my scanguage. A modern analogue gauge (or old one for that matter) can and will never show actual temps.

I tried the scangauge in the i30 but it does not seem to want to work properly. Maybe time to get a new updated version or something different for the i30.

Reminds me of the good old Holden Temp light. When it comes on it tells you youv'e just boiled your coolant. :D

yep,that red light meant it was time for a new head gasket.  :lol: :sweating:

Only time ive ever seen the temp gauge move in a car was mere seconds before the sound of coolant boiling and bad things happening, theyre rubbish :S cracked the head on the car i bought to learn to drive manual just 10km from the dealership :( (water pump siezed, yay)

And that's why my other car is 40 years old almost- mech gauges are far more accurate for temps IMHO. I can see what's going on in all situations up and down temp wise.

Just to let you all know, that the engine didn't get damaged and have now done 90.000 km with no issues. Very happy. :)
