Hi,

I have a 2007 1.6 crdi I30. My heater is only blowing cold air, even if I use the temp
switch on the dashboard. Setting it to HI. And also the airon is not working. Does anybody
have an idea what the problem could be.

Thanks for the help.

Coolant fluid checked. Checked airco fuses, 2 besides door and 1 at motor.
Which fuse controles the heater?

There is also a fuse box in the engine compartment.  May be worth just checking them.

Akso, have you had the dash out for any repairs?

Loose wire behind switches?

Build in a s100 radio. But i dont know of the fault was already there. I checked the wires on the switch and was pluged in ok.

The heater element is not used to heat the interior of the car except under exceptional circumstances. The heating of the interior is like most other cars, via the coolant of the engine. Some questions for you,

  • What is the ambient temperature when you are testing your AC & Heater.
  • Does the heater fan blow air inside your car on each fan setting
  • Do you own a multimeter

If the air is already cold, the AC won't work until the air is warm enough to require cooling.
Another possibility for the AC is that the refrigerant level is too low. The AC will not operate to avoid damaging itself if this condition exists. You would need to see an AC specialist to verify that refrigerant is ok.
When checking the heater, make sure you have switched off the AC.
If the heater blower operates ok on each speed setting, then there isn't any fault in the wiring.
If you own a multimeter, I would be checking the voltages at the appropriate fuses to ensure that power is available.

The ambient temprature is around 24 degres. The fan blows at each setting. I have a multimeter and i try to messure the voltage later. I can try to refill the ac first.

The are two hoses going into the car from the motor compartment. They are hand warm not really hot. Is this normal after 60km drive?

Can't see your pic but we have i30's of both types, wasn't sure which one you owned.

The heater in your type is electronically controlled. There are sensors for various functions which should be checked to determine your problem. Can't really do that here, sorry.

 @roysmits

:juststopthere:

WARNING.

You can't top up the air conditioner unless you have special equipment and are qualified to work on Air Conditioning. There is refrigerant under high pressure in the system which can injure you.

Hmmm... I used to top mine up via the low pressure circuit. You can get a canister kit which includes a pressure gauge.

Id rather play safe here, do it wrong and you could get freezer burn from escaping refrigerant. The little canisters were popular here too, but no longer sold, I think.

The refrigerant should be at room temperature; I know the stuff I got on my fingers was ;)

I wont do it by myself. I go the garage for that.

2 two hoses are for the coolant and going into the vehicle. They are not extremly hot after driving.

My car has automatic airco.

As the system is automatic, there are air temp sensors and ultimately, a motor activated door that mixes cold / hot air to set the correct output temp as dialed on the dash display. Best to have the system thoroughly checked by Hy to locate the true source of the problem.

The older manual type were simpler to diagnose & fix, but not as fancy as today's cars.

Gotta keep up with the Jones's and all that. ;)

Today the heater spontaneously started to work again. Probably a lose contact or wire.
Still got the aircon problem. Yesterday i ordered a workshop manual. Easier to find the problem with a correct wiring diagram.

Thanks for all the help and ideas!
