Hey all, just found this site. What my problem is I have no cover on the +ve side of my  battery. Ive had a look at pictures and its supposed to be there. As i the actual clip. Mustve fallen off, Ive only had the car a few months.

Just wondering if there is any place i could buy one. A link?

I don't think the cover does anything functional.
Is this what you mean?

Boydy as Gonz said the cover is really only a safety feature,so you don't short the battery or or accidentally hook up jumpers the wrong way, even though the car is used if it is still younger than five years you should have transferred the remainder of the new car warranty,it may still be covered

Hi Boydy

 :wttc:

You can do without the cover, many cars in the past have survived without it.

However, if it's a issue for you, contact the dealer to hear if warranty will cover it. If not, I'm sure it can't be that expensive.

Why would the missing battery terminal cover come under warranty

If it was missing when the car was sold the purchaser should have noticed. If it wasn't then it has been lost since the car was purchased. Neither would come under warranty.

^-- I thought that too, initially, then I changed my mind and considered that the battery cover is part of the car's specification. And it's missing  :Dunno:

How do we know it wasn't purchased privately. No mention of a dealer in post #1

Would not matter who the seller was as warranty is transferable so long as hy are notified of change of owner

And if a wheel trim or the oil filler cap was missing?  Removable items are not likely to be regarded as a warranty claim.

I didn't mention warranty.

You could argue that a battery cover is fitted for safety reasons, not cosmetic.

I mentioned warranty to which, I assumed,  you were responding

Could it not be equally be argued that there are many cars not fitted with battery  terminal covers so they are cosmetic?  :undecided:

Yes indeed.

I see the safety aspect as being important, to prevent accidental grounding.
