Title: New i20
Post by: TheReaper on November 24, 2014, 05:11:39
So I said goodbye to our other non Hyundai car last Monday, our 2007 2.0 TDI VW Golf. Was not too sad to see it go. Since we have had it. It has had the timing belt, water pump replaced electively. Non electively have had the entire drive shaft replaced, computer braking module, diesel pump, engine mounts, coolant distributor valve, and a few other odds and ends, on top of $500-600 services since the car had 160,000k's.

Was having problems with shuttering that was getting worse when the car was down shifting. Had it inspected and the Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) was failing. As well as the air compressor was going out, and the CTP and green slip was due at the end of December. To pay for all of it to get fixed, insured, and rego was going to be $4300. Car value on private sale was $7200.

Hyundai gave us a trade in value of $6000 and then a $1000 eftpos card on top of that, that we threw back at the car. The i20 was $17000 brand new 2014 build MY15 model, 8 km on the dash, automatic, windows tinted. Nothing too flash for $10000 total. Plus they scewed up on the color on the cars sale sheet. Listed as electric red and ended up being metallic red. So we got the $500 more expensive paint job free of charge since we signed the contract already.

Pretty good power for a little car. Very happy with the purchase and then again with the 5 year / unlimited km warranty, capped price servicing, etc.

Will post pictures soon.

Not that VW was on my possible new car list, but after that report, there is nothing they can do to get on now....

2007 2.0 TDI VW Golf.
Car value on private sale was $7200.

What. You can get a 2007 VW Golf 2,0 TDI DSG for 7200,-

Here that car cost around 27.000 AUD with the same milage...  :scared:

(Price for a brand new VW Golf 2,0 TDI DSG is 74.000,- AUD)

And a new i30 1,6 CRDi is 42.000,- AUD in lowest trim...

Yeah, with the mileage its worth that, and it had a few cosmetic fixes needed, so it would be on the lower end of that value.
