I've got a long strip of aluminium about as wide and thick as my Breitling watchband from a fence repair at one of my rental properties. I think I'll fit the rear skirt using the points that don't require brackets in order to situate it, then take careful measurements of how the (bracketed) mounting points need to meet. Then I'll cut, bend and drill some home made brackets and match them with some hardware store fasteners. :D

That's about what I figured you'd have to do. The brackets look fairly straight forward.

No, Gonz said he'd have to bend them.

Spooky! I was going to say that but thought it might sound a bit silly...  :snigger:

I fitted the rear skirt by the only two points that required no brackets - at the rear wheel arches - and supported the centre with an empty spray can and old mouse mat.

I then used fine pliable wire to shape a template hole to hole shape for the two longer brackets and four shorter zigzag brackets. With the aid of a hacksaw, big shifters and cordless drill, my aluminium strip is now shorter and the missing length is 6 neat brackets awaiting some suitable fasteners. :victory:

I finished the brackets and would have finished the whole job if I had the nut / washer / bolt sets I'd like already.

Then when it was time to remove the skirt, it was such a snug fit, it resisted. I decided it was better to leave it on and temporarily wire bind the missing fastening points until my trip to Bunnings on the way back from work tomorrow.

So here are the brackets:

and here is the skirt supported by the can and mouse mat:

and here is how I'll drive to work tomorrow  :

Thanks, guys. It does feel good to get this close to done.
I haven't applied the sticky trimlines between panels as I had for the side skirts and I'll do that for front and back before it's all properly done but it does look finished.
If I were a fan of badges - and I'm not - I might be tempted to add this one now! :whistler:

GS would be better  -  Gonz Special.   :D   :goodjob:
That reminds me of an aluminium sticker I photodeveloped while I worked at Rod Irving Electronics just before joining the RAAF. I was driving my first car, an HQ wagon, and I intended to replace the centre grille Holden logo with the letters FG. I think it's still sitting in the shed somewhere.
