hi guys,

i'm really confused and pissed off. I sent my  i30 2012(new design) diesel 1.6 CRDi Auto 5dr car to the dealer for the 60000 miles service. I got it back the same day and drove for a week and found out that it was sluggish than before with a weird engine sound. Today i went back to the receipt and found out as per pic. :(

:link: Capture.JPG - Google Drive

"CARRIED OUT FIXED PRICE FULL PETROL SERVICE"  :o

i don't know what to say. Please let me know if this is gonna ruin my car? I have shown the full list of things carried out?

Is it a typo or a mistake by the dealer? Please help :( I'm nervous and worried.

Probably a typo but I'd ring them just voice your concerns, Shell oil is the same for petrol and diesel so wont be a problem.

I would suggest it would be impossible to do a petrol service on a diesel, the fuel and oil filters are different for one.

I dare say the mechanic has done the right job, and someone has made a typo.

On the plus side, over here anyway, diesel servicing is more expensive, so you probably saved some coin.

But as suggested nothing wrong with calling the dealer to confirm.

Hi aerobharath

:wts: Although I'd complain about the sluggishness when you enquire about the billing misnomer..

I'd be more concerned about the extras! They seemed to really stitch you up with the wiper blades, brakes and tyres.

Diesel i30's seem to be pretty easy on the brakes (maybe due to the engine braking of the diesel motor)

a) Were you aware the wipers weren't working poorly, the brakes were nearing the end of their life and the tyres were nearly bald?

b) Did they ring you to discuss these 3 items before proceeding?

A little bit of self research and homework will probably put your mind a little to ease.

Look up those part number codes and they're all diesel related. I'd say it's just loaded into the system with the wrong description

HI Guys, thanks for your responses. Really appreciate it..

I called the dealer and he checked the part numbers and said its 100% for diesel parts.  This gives me some peace but i still feel I have to check for myself.

I also told him that my car is sluggish and less responsive after service. Since it is still under warranty they have booked it for the next Monday for performance diagnostics. I hope it gets fixed. I will keep you guys updated on it for sure. thanks again

Hi Dazzler,

Regarding replacement parts, they phoned and told me all the mentioned need replacing. I was shocked to see the prices so I told them I would do all of them during MOT in 2 weeks.

Wipers work fine. They can wipe clean a dino's @$$ :D
Brakes are fine too. Its smooth and sharp. I never had any slips.
I had a puncture last month in rear right and replaced it for £54 with the recommended option but they want £80 for a budget option :(

My main concern would be what oil they put in the engine. Unlike Australia the UK cars have a DPF which requires a special engine oil.  I'm not sure what they put in a petrol - but it needs checking.

If it were me - I would be insisting they change the engine oil to ensure it's the right stuff - and witness them doing it.

Bloody muppets.

:whsaid:

It has to be a low ash formula I believe or it can damage the DPF which is an expensive component to replace.

We have only just started getting the DPF in Australia in the 3rd generation of i30 (our pollution laws are less strict than yours) but I think all UK delivered i30 CRDi (diesel) have them.

hi all,

MOT passed yesterday with the following advisory notes.
Advisory notice item(s)
Nearside Front Inner Tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.E.1)
Offside Front Inner Tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.E.1)
Front Brake pad(s) wearing thin (3.5.1g)

Im looking forward to changing these in the coming weeks. Nothing to worry :)

Also, I was confused with the notes when I bought the car, the dealer said its nothing major to worry so i trusted him. Can you guys give me some explanation for the advisory notes from 2015 before i bought the car?

Advisory notice item(s)
Under-trays fitted obscuring some underside components
Engine covers fitted obscuring some components in the engine bay
Vehicle's internal headlight adjuster altered to recheck lights

Would be really helpful to gain knowledge with your expertise :) thanks

I guess they were to lazy to remove the undertray and engine cover to do a visual inspection :disapp:
The light adjustment just means they checked the roller dial.

As far as i can recall from watching 2 years ago they do not remove any trays etc.  Just look at underside with light and a quick look into the engine area.

So can't add any more

I'll be keeping a watchful eye on mine tomorrow morning as they have to do a service and brake flush, I'll be inspecting their inspections

Already had them note that I don't want their oil - air filter - petrol treatment - washer bottle additive and don't touch my tyre pressures :)
