Please do me a huge favour and check your plates for your paint code. Mine says MAD but this does not appear consistent with my colour. I know HyperSilver was very new when I bought the car.

I need to order paint with a good degree of confidence.

Please reply with your codes below.

I have a Hyper Silver FD built in May 2011 but unfortunately my paint code is written in Korean. So no help unfortunately.

I actually have a large paint chip on one of the doors and was wanting to get a touch up paint pen. I asked Hyundai but apparently they no longer sell them.

The only other place I thought of looking was Supercheapauto. They have Holts Dupli-color touch up pens but I have no idea which colour to choose. I'll have to look next time in-store.

I bit down on my apprehension and went into SuperCheap yesterday to get paint for the spoilers. I wandered up to the paint matching computer and entered the code MAD as it appears on Firty's plate. Despite books and websites not listing it or identifying it as something other than Hyper Silver Metallic, there it was on tne screen.

The guy mixing the paint up for me said the database of colour mixing formulae was created by the same man who painted Australia's golden carriage gift to the Queen - I suppose that makes him an expert.

I walked out with a can of Hyper Silver Metallic and another of clear acrylic. Tomorrow is another day off work and when the first coat goes on.

I laid a few coats of hyper silver - very lightly - on both front and rear spoilers today.
I'm going to do this very slowly, giving each coat 48 hours to cure, including the clear. Might take a couple of weeks all up but I only want to do it once.
