tartak,
Is that the layout for a mudflap in the picture?

Hi, its not. It is the outline for the tissue box holder. The printer outlines it first to prime the heated plastic before proceeding to print the design.

I've always fancied that the day I get a 3D printer I'll cut myself a themed chess set, maybe Star Trek.

Thanks for explaining,  looks like another thing I'll  explore.
Just remembered Aldi had one a few weeks ago, but I think yours is a up-market unit.

Im back, so I sent the i30 for the yearly service last March. When I was cleaning the cabin, I noticed that a pair of bolt cover behind the driver seat was missing (see sample pic)
(http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/af30/tartakobsky/18789890_1724388024255217_1079999864_o.jpg) (http://s990.photobucket.com/user/tartakobsky/media/18789890_1724388024255217_1079999864_o.jpg.html)

I did not checked it when I got the car from new so cannot confirm whether it got lost or not there in the first place. So long story short I grab the remaining pair and made a 3D model of it

(http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/af30/tartakobsky/IMG_20170602_153956.jpg) (http://s990.photobucket.com/user/tartakobsky/media/IMG_20170602_153956.jpg.html)

and printed it

(http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/af30/tartakobsky/IMG_20170602_145247.jpg) (http://s990.photobucket.com/user/tartakobsky/media/IMG_20170602_145247.jpg.html)

(http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/af30/tartakobsky/IMG_20170602_153944.jpg) (http://s990.photobucket.com/user/tartakobsky/media/IMG_20170602_153944.jpg.html)

and it is a perfect fit!

That's a handy fix :goodjob2: now! how much does the 3D printer cost :sweating:

It'd be a handy tool to make mud guards - fog light surrounds and other bits and pieces for the i30 and other cars, if I got one big enough I could make custom air boxes and grills :D

i used a vernier caliper to measure the critical dimensions. the round edges are mostly guesstimate  :)

Very clever! Well done. I would like one eventually. Making things like that is a great way to learn and justify the spend.  :victory:

Hi, mine is a $220 china clone called Anet A8. The filament is $29 per kilo.

Tartakobsky,

Did you build that printer  ?

Hi, yes I did. It came in a box not yet assembled. But all the parts and instructions are included. Took me 2 days to assemble and power up.
