Hi,

I'm in the process of replacing the door cable on my drivers side. I've managed to get the interior door trim off, and now I'm trying to get the metal trim out, but I'm stuck.

I've undone all of the bolts around the edges, and I can prise it open most of the way round, but it seems to be stuck up at the top.

I've attached a picture of where I'm at. I think the bit in question is probably related to the window, so I'm not keen to force it. All of the other info on changing this cable seems to relate to other Hyundai models, which are slightly different.

Anyone know how I get this panel off?

Bump @cruiserfied or anyone else who may be able to help!

Maybe something in these two videos (post #1) may help?

I have done a writeup here. Should apply to your circumstances.

Thanks cruiserfied.

If I'm reading your instructions correctly, since I have the 10mm bolts off, do I just need to jemmy the reg off? Other instructions seem to talk about loosening the window by lowering it to expose the bolts at the inspection point.

It's the glass I'm worried about here. That top section seems very tight.

You need to unbolt the glass from the reg panel first and hold glass up with masking tape or similar

Well that didn't go well!!

I plugged the electrics back in, lowered the window, loosened the bolts and lifted the glass and taped it.

I then managed to see in to the black plastic mount where the new cable mounts. However we couldn't seem to get the old cable out at the lock end, and eventually had to dig it out with a flat blade screwdriver.

By accident, I then clipped the new one in before the cable end was seated (wherever it was meant to seat, as we couldn't see). So now the new cable is in, but not seated. Nuts. Does anyone know how to get the whole lock mechanism out? I figure it might be easier if I could do that. I managed to loosen it a bit by removing the bolts on the end of the door at the catch, but it wasn't quite enough.

Added to that, the glow plug light has started flashing now!

Update. For the £8, I just ordered another cable. Managed to get in tonight and remove the cable I'd borked up.

My issue now is getting that ball end of the cable to seat - it's completely blind, and I've no idea how to get it to seat before I clip the cable in place.

It'd be easier if I could disconnect the cable from the lock actuator, and perhaps even get the whole lock mechanism out, but I'm struggling with that at the moment.

I'm not going to let this one beat me!!

(I did, however, let the glow plugs defeat me. Local garage (not dealer) did it for £150. Hyundai wanted £250!!
