Anyone know the difference between the New Zealand i30 1.6 Turbo Limited and the Australian i30 SR Premium? Look the same to me on paper, except the New Zealand version has a 0-100 time of 6.75 secs (in the above article anyway) and in another 6.86 secs (can't find it at the moment).

Welcome Flower. Thanks for the link. I'll check it out later when I'm on my tablet or PC. Can't imagine the performance would be different between the two. Although I thought the SR was more like 7.2! Maybe their test vehicle was well run in... mine has loosened up considerably. I've done 24,000 already! :cool:

Price looks to be the main difference from what I can see, NZ limited is $43990 and the Aus SR Premium is about $35000.
Does the limited have the independent rear suspension that the SR comes with?

So I've checked out the review, but not the NZ website yet. From the comparison there were 3 things that stand out.
It says the i30 Limited has red instrument background, the SR has black.
It also says the limited likes higher octane fuel, the SR is happy to run on 91 unleaded or E10 all day every day (That's what is specified in Australia) If that is the case it might be set to a higher tune in the limited.
.. and I'm thinking you guys might not get the tuned for Australia suspension, which is excellent and gets a big wrap in Aussie reviews. Some negative comments about the ride in that comparison.
These three differences alone would suggest they come from a different production run, which is a surprise.
I'll see if I can check the instrument colour and octane number on the NZ site after tea.

I'm guessing the auto review bloke has got his facts wrong on the required fuel, the Limited replicates the SR in power - torque - emissions and fuel usage, if there had been a revised tune to suit higher octane fuel then all those specs would be different.

Can't see a red background in the instruments although I think the Elantra SR might have had that at some stage. :cool:

Thanks, Dazzler. The New Zealand reporter must be the problem. We do get the Aussie tune suspension, and it does run on 91 :victory:. It feels like a low 7-second car but a high 6 I'm not so sure. I'm picking we have a very similar spec, the only thing I could think of was our emissions rules are not the same.

Cheers! What colour did you get?
I agree about the performance figures. My 6 cylinder 2014 Calais was apparently low 7's and this feels about the same.
It is a bit slow in initial takeoff in Normal mode but is a rocketship when passing on the highway. :Shocked: :evil:

NZ gets a much better range of Hyundai's in general... Probably because they are willing to pay more for entry level cars like the i20

NZ i20 and i20 Cross are only 1.4ltr non turbo engines with a measly 74kw

I think Dean means the SR and the Limited are mechanically identical.

My PD1 SR (Non Premium) didn't. Maybe the PD2 Premium will? :fingers:

Full tank of fuel and mudflaps in NZ.
Negotiable prices too as i30 not selling too well ... Kona has taken a lot of the sales.
Elite is 2.0 petrol as is now offered in Australia. Although no adaptive cruise.
Base 2.0 is auto. Blind spot monitoring and leather steering wheel.
Although I see a 1.6 mpi petrol auto added now. Has 5 inch screen.
No diesels, no manuals.
Tuned suspension, Aussie specs I bet.
All colours in all models. Seems phoenix orange in Australia only for SR.
Will move from my FD to a PD when mine dies. Going strong at 320,000km though.

The Kona is a good thing but not breaking records as the i30 equates to better value overall. Word is i30 Sales are picking up again over here. Notice our membership numbers are taking a leap this month maybe a sign of good sales as well. :victory:
