plus quote from goauto..

REMEMBER the Hyundai Lantra Sportwagon of the 1990s? Well, the i30cw is nothing like it, being light years ahead in design, quality, driveability and value. Indeed, as an extension of the lauded i30, it might even be the best new Hyundai that Australians can buy right now. While the i30cw is not perfect, it stands as the sort of car that can change people’s minds about a brand. And after sampling the European-designed ‘crossover wagon’, we wonder why more manufacturers don’t offer fun and affordable family cargo-friendly runabouts like this.

in the price range of the cw i only found two cars, holden viva, and astra, and both didn't have standard as i30,you had to add even more cash to bring either car close to an i30
  • 2009 manual sx hatch and 2009 automatic sx cw. both 2.0 petrol.

I quite like the Astra wagon (especially as there is now a diesel variant) but it only comes as an Auto now (that's perhaps why Hyundai has mostly gone auto on the CW)

In my opinion the Viva is a lesser vehicle (not up to I30's high standards)

Holden have discontinued the astra wagon, once they run out of stock there will be no more (another reason besides price that we are buying 2 i30cw's)
When I was originally buying my hatch, and still with the cw the i30's have the most "bang for your buck" they have more features and a higher build standard for lesser money imho.

yes encountar your right on the money about the i30cw.  we went to buy an astra or viva wagon but the i30 cw we purchased and a hatch, not bad for a guy who only ever owned ford v8s for the last 26 years.!  cheers  steve
