Hyundai, by comparison, has racked up landmark sales, overtaking Holden for the first time in sales for the year to date. The South Korean brand has enjoyed an extended period of record sales that looks to have no end in sight.
Its popular i30 hatchback was the nation's most popular car in June and its ix35 compact SUV has performed well in run-out mode.
Though the i30 had a comparatively weak month in August, slipping to fourth on the sales charts, Hyundai has more than established itself as one of Australia's preferred automotive brands, finishing ahead of brands such as Mazda and Holden last month.
