Hi guys

I'm a newbie on this forum. I have a very irritating problem that has just crept up.

I love listening to audio books while driving. For the past week, however, I noticed that my radio skips tracks and even if I manually go back to the right track, it forwards to the track it wants to play!

What's up with that?

Any help would be highly appreciated!!!

Probably, not many of us doing that while we drive, however, plenty of us using USB for music. If you can answer some questions, it may help to pinpoint your problem.

1. What size USB.
2. What format USB.
3. What size is the book file.
4. What format is the file.
5. Are you using a cable to connect to the car and if yes, what type.

Hi ShahiedaK & Welcome...

Are we talking on CD maybe? Because if that is the case sounds like a warranty claim to me...

The topic heading says the problem  is on the USB Dazz. I'm guessing he's loading the file off an e-reader to his USB.

It's a 4GB usb. It's mp3 format. Not very good with technology, so not sure how it is formatted. I usually right click on the memory stick and say format. LOL. Sorry, not much help there.

I'm not sure about elsewhere, but in SA we only have two models - the 1.6 and the 2l. In the space between the two front seats, there is a box and in the box you have the option of putting a usb / ipod / phone into the console.

I have listened to many ebooks before. My little nephew has been going crazy in the car and pressed all kinds of buttons, so not sure if he activated something.

I've tried copying the mp3 files onto about 3 different usb's - but none is working. They all skip!

Ugly mongrel (lol at ur name), I'm from Durban. And you?

PS: She (not he) :)

When UM says mate, he means mate

Can you tell me the size of the mp3, & has it successfully played on any other machine.
I'm thinking this file may be corrupt.

LOL!

Dit gaan goed, dankie :)

The mp3 plays fine. I am now playing it through my cellphone as that doesn't cause the same problem. I have listened to it through the phone and on my laptop - seems fine to me.

Each track is about 18mb. It is in number format (e.g. 1 - 17). Say I am on track 3 and it goes to track 4, it jumps a few tracks ahead to track 7. I've tried it with other books and it is doing the same thing.

I still think there are problems with the file. Do you have any software on your PC to make a new mp3 file. If you can, I would try that.

I have had occasion where the mp3 TAG, which is a naming convention for mp3's (usually contains extra info like artist, album etc.) can override the simple numbering 1-17 file name. So if this is happening, it thinks it is doing nothing wrong by skipping. Note, it is other e book files that are causing problems too. The simplest way is to remaster the mp3 & givi a simple name 1,2,3 etc

Good advice Phil. I'd only add to use 01, 02, 03, not 1, 2, 3, as there are more than 10 files and the thing will read 10 before 1.

Thanks guys! That worked a charm! I renamed the files to a simple file name with the numbers at the back and it doesn't skip!

I think the last book I had had shorter names and that might have been it. This latest collection that I have all have long names  :goodjob:
