Hi everyone, wondered if you could help.
I just bought a 2010 i30 turbo diesel manual, very happy but in the 2 weeks of owning the following has happened twice:-

When went to start it turned over but wouldnt run. I noticed the red key symbol on the dash while turning over. I locked and unlocked the car a few times and eventually it started.
Dont if it is something to do with tne imobiliser or just something else, any other time starts great.

The key symbol in the dash is the immobiliser. Do you have another key you can use for a period to find out if same issue occurs..?

Henning has hit the nail on the head. Disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery for 30 minutes or more will reset the ECU which may help.

The immobilizer chip in the key isn't dependent on the Fob Battery as far as I am aware.

If it does the same with your spare key (if you have one) not sure what else to do.

Dazz is correct about the transponder chip. It doesn't use a battery.

Shot in the dark would be malfunction on the antenna coil (key reader ring)

Hi guys, thank you for your replies.
Just a thought , if i took the car and had it scanned by a auto lecki would there be an error logged in the ecu? Just an idea..
