Hi all,
I was wondering whether anybody could tell me what tyres were fitted as standard to the GD Active wagon and hatchback? It appears that my spare and fronts are Hankook Kinergy but my rears are Hankook Ventus Prime. I think there must have been a bit of a switcheroo somewhere along the line in the car's previous life. Only 19,700 on the odo so tyres shouldn't have needed replacing yet.

I think the original factory tyres I sold to Dave/Doggie were the Ventus Prime's.

Sorry, i had Conti's from new.
I was looking around at the dealer this morning and all the new cars in the showroom had Hankook Kinergy's allround.

Some of the Hatches come with Nexus as standard as well (so a mixed bag!) :crazy2:
Do they all appear to have roughly the same wear? :undecided:

Wear is the same all round and the wheels themselves are stock alloys.

Yes, wear tends to be the same all 'round. It's a special feature of the industry's insistence on using round wheels.
Dazz, I'm so tyred of your quips - you just keep rolling them out, but they're just not punny any more. Wheel you please tread carefully with the topic? The pressure's getting to me and I'm feeling a bit flat.

As you say maybe a bit of switcheroo. I would have expected them to be all the same model tyre from the factory.
I wonder if one rear got damaged and the previous owner decided (or was convinced) to change both so there wouldn't be unbalanced/different tread (and, in theory, different grip) on one side of the car to the other and/or to prevent uneven wear. Not saying those things would actually happen, or rather to a noticeable extent for most people's day to day driving, just could have been the reasons.
When my LHF tyre got damaged (tear and buldge in sidewall) - I effectively got two new tyres on the front, because I never had had need of the spare till then, for the above reasons - but I wouldn't have brought a second tyre (unless the undamaged front was nearing replacement anyway). So when I had the damaged tyre replaced (same model) a couple days later I had them fit it to RHF, so the good previous RHF (with not so much wear) is now the spare. Of course not everyone can necessarily get the same model tyres as they already have.

I thought I heard or read recently that people hardly ever buy four replacements now, with wear dictating two at once as a new norm, particularly with the prevalence of FWD. For all I know that might be further up in this thread! :crazy2:

I had Kumhos on my first i30.
I had Nexus on my second.
I have now replaced them with Continentals.
