I sometimes have a problem starting my car even though the gear is in the Park position. I have to use my key and insert it into the SHIFT LOCK RELEASE and move the gear stick to the Nuetral position and start the car. Does anyone know how to reslove this and how much would it cost if I took it to the garage?

It may help one of our guru's if you can provide further details such as model, age of the car, mileage etc.

Also, did you notice any unusual noises prior to this happening.
