So the saga continues.

I have tired 3 different phones now an apple phone using car play and a Samsung using AA and I am still getting this annoying sound issue.

I have also tried multiple cables a brand new one from google and a really short cable like really short lol still having the same issue.

I am really at a loss of how to fix this issue. I think ill try and contact Hyundai and see if they have a solution as I feel like I have tried everything.

I really don't want to have to resort to paying 500+ to get a new head unit as it seems like a waste of money when the GD-03 does everything I want it to except for not drive me mad.

Any solutions would be appreciated!

Regards,
Lophophoria

Edit: Just had a thought that perhaps it could be a faulty connection somewhere as well. I might do some investigating behind the head unit when I get around to it...

We also have a 2021 I30 and have a similar issue with the smart cruise control. Since near new, we first experienced the cruise control faulting out with two indicators lighting on the dash ('Check forward safety systems' and 'Smart Cruise Ctrl (SCC) conditions not met').  We have experienced this failure intermittently ever since on a nearly daily basis during extended travels. It faults out after a lengthy period of highway travel (more than a couple hours). It will not reset by turning the ignition off and on. It only resets after many hours but even an overnight stop has on a number of occasions not reset the condition. The fault occurs irrespective of whether the front radar (behind H emblem), or windscreen camera are clean or dirty.

We have presented the vehicle to several dealers and have been repeatedly advised to present the vehicle with the fault active. Due to the intermittent nature (and inability of service centres to immediately examine the vehicle), this has not been possible. Hyundai Australia Customer Care could provide no advice other than to have it inspected by an authorised service centre who would need to contact the Hyundai technical division for support if they were unable to diagnose the cause.

The radar was eventually diagnosed as being out of alignment due to damage as they observed a small indent on the radars front face. But on inspection, I was unable to see any evidence of this and there is no damage to the front bumper behind which sits the radar. I took a photo of the radar (attached). Interestingly, there is some sort of round 'rough surface' pattern on the radar which is only evident due to the flash I used. I couldn't see this without the flash. The 'indent' is to the lower left and side of the radar and is outside of the round rough area. Could this be part of the normal condition of these radars or has there been damage at some point either before or after sale?

The radar alignment was corrected (~AUD600) and we were advised to see if this fixed the issue. We have not been able to do this yet as it requires a significant period of travel. The service centre refused to contact the Hyundai technical division despite admitting that the radar realignment may not fix the issue.

After continuing to pursue the issue, we were told that Hyundai Australia provided the following guidance:

'Hyundai technical have advised that when this vehicle has been used for extended period of time e.g. 4 – 5  (in some cases less) and has not registered another vehicle in front of its self when using radar cruise control, the vehicle is designed to then assume that the cruise control has an error. This may then cause a warning to appear on the dash advising that that the cruise control has failed.  The cruise control can then be reset by stopping the vehicle and cycling the ignition. This is a characteristic of the vehicle.'

I have not been able to find anything about this in the vehicles user handbook or in any other information online. But we do know that 'cycling the ignition' does not reset the fault.

Given the popularity of the I30, I presume this must be an issue experienced by many?

Hi all!

First problem I haven't quite found an existing match for on here! Thanks to you all for making this outstanding resource what it has become over the years.

Yeah, so as per the title, I've got a problem with the Electronic Stability Control. I guess? It started just over a week ago, straight after we washed the car, but it went away after one day, so I assumed it was just wet brakes or something. It just came back yesterday (it has been raining quite a bit around here), and has become more consistent today, and I was able to figure out a few particulars of it:

- the car sometimes shows the ESC light while also grabbing at the wheels (don't know if it's the brakes being actuated, or what);
- it happens ONLY on right-hand curves, not while going straight, or steering left;
- it seems to happen only at ~70 kph and higher, and the higher the speed, the harder the grab on the wheels and the longer they (pulses) last. Which can be very disconcerting;
- turning off the ESC each time I start the car does stop this from happening, but I really want to fix this.

I've read a few threads on here from folk having the issue with the ESC light coming on above 80 kph, but didn't get the impression that anyone was experiencing this pulsing grab on the wheels, making the car dive and wobble as it goes round a bend at 80-90 kph, so that's why I wanted to start a new thread. Seems to me this is tied into steering geometry as well as speed, but I don't know what that means. I'm also aware of the clutch switch angle that's been discussed before, but I haven't gotten to grips with what it means/how I can check that out.

Also, I saw on another thread that Hyundai Australia issued a notice about broken ESC systems for vehicles in a certain VIN range, and mine falls within that, but it also says that the the ESC warning light would be on if the ESC is broken, and mine only come on when the car is having the above issue. Also, I'm not the original owner, so I don't know if this vehicle has already had the fix.

Thanks all for reading, and looking forward to chatting about it.  Cheers!

EXTERIOR / Re: Towbar for N-Line 2023 Hatch?

Probably a bit late,

Would this not work ? http://etowbars.com/au/Towbars/Hyundai/i-30/3-5-door/i30-2017-towbars/Hyundai-i30-N-Hatch-Towbar-Invisible

The rear end looks the same to me 2020 - 2023 N-Line hatch.

A bit expensive but there are no other options and from reviews is very well made.

I just ordered one from there for my 2021 I30N DCT Hatch as they were the only place that I could get one including Hyundai Australia.

Righto fixed. Bear with me.

Replaced fuel filter (in tank fuel filter). Fault remained. (check this link out for a similar fuel filter replacement jog guide:- :link: Hyundai ix35 InTank Fuel Filter Replacement - YouTube), not too hard, a bit fiddley.

Next functional check I ran it for longer, RPM increased to the 3000 RPM then would drop down 200-300 rpm and then do it again (similar to a rev limited), I had the OBD connected and just kept my foot on accelerator, it then started doing it at 2200 RPM and then threw a fault code.

Fault code was P0336 'Crankshaft Position Sensor 'A' Circuit range/performance'. I then cleared the fault and restarted car, fault was intermittent again (not throwing that code and going to back to the 3000 RPM drop off).

So in a nutshell its a half failure that might look like something else (ie not throwing a fault code every time).

Replaced crankshaft angle sensor (https://www.repco.com.au/parts-service/electrical-parts-vehicle-management/crank-angle-sensors/goss-crankshaft-angle-sensor-sc447/p/A9502830?kwSearch=crankshaft).

Note: I would not use a Goss crankshaft angle sensor again. This was only 18 months old (last time it was a hard fault with 0 RPM and ESP light coming on). I only went with Goss again as I couldnt wait for an OEM one.

At least its got some new plugs and new fuel filter!!!

First time using a OBD (my old 100 series is none compatible) - These things are great.

Thanks Mate,

I did have a look at those, but all seemed to be for the diesel engine? I guess applicable to the petrol... (just find it strange that form 0-2999 RPM there is zero issues with acceleration, hence why I didnt think a fuel filter - Still might change anyway just to rule out).

Got the OBD reader today, no faults. (Watched fuel pressure increase but then cut (which is why i think its the ECU entering a limp mode or something, maybe it monitors fuel pressure and cuts for safety??)

Will keep troubleshooting and advise,

If anyone has any other suggestions, please sign out.

Unfortunately not. it has been like this ever since I posted this.
I'm thinking of cleaning the throttle body and replacing the map sensor (both easy to get to with hand tools) since it was throwing the p0106 fault code.

Replacing all my plugs didn't fix it, and the car does run after a brief moment of cranking, so I suspect the throttle body is gunked up or the map sensor is bad.. or both lol.
Don't go changing the plugs or the coil pack or anything fuel pump related because it has to be something else based on everything I've checked.

I've pulled the fuel pump, and O-ring so many times as I was told the O-ring might have a knick in it causing the issue, but every time I've taken it out, it looks fine, even replacing the O-ring many times didn't fix the issue.
So it can't be a fuel pump issue, I disassembled it in front of a mechanic who also said it looks fine and I was doing the correct procedure.

When I do finally fix it, I'll let you know how I go.
