It's because ACCC only monitors fuel prices in the the 5 largest capital cities  :fum:

Plus (I guess) there is probably a bit more competition for business in these densely populated areas.

Been a long time since I can remember a petrol price war in Tassie (unfortunately)  :Pout:

Just came back from Launceston today.  Still 1.40 and higher, 1.12 here in Melbourne.  There is some intentional price gouging going on according to reports.

Dazz i was reading in NRMA Open Road this past month, & they where questioning how some country towns set there fuel prices, so with NRMA looking at it hopefully we will get something done.
we have a price war on down here, since some new boys moved in.
but some towns have there prices 10 cents higher.

Thanks John, RACT make a bit of noise about it and sometimes it comes down a few cents .. but not to a fair price.

If you were going to have a petrol station, looks like regional areas is the place to have them!  :undecided:

Apparently the price gouge by Iran and USA is to put the squeeze on Russia, they are just about bust. But that's not what mainstream news is reporting.

Apparently the ACCC have been asked by the Tasmanian State Government to investigate fuel prices.  The claim is the mark up at the bowser is twice the mainland average.

Merry Christmas,
Well I'm in Sydney now, Diesel not much different in price here than down where I live now. Cheapest diesel I've seen $1.36 . Before I left home I payed $1.38.6
But petrol is a lot cheaper they even post the price of 98 ultimate up. Saw that for $1.30

Few days ago I paid 1.289 EUR per liter for diesel, and 95 octane petrol would have been 1.389 EUR. At July they were about 1.52 and 1.70 respectively.

Some people at here goes regularly to Russia for filling their tanks (only 100 km to the border from where I live). Even before the Russian Roubles exchange rate plummeting recently, the fuel at the other side cost about half than in Finland, and now it's even cheaper at there.
