I'll put this here as it's new member related ... sort of.
I noticed earlier this week one of my neighbours, who already drives a Santa Fe, got himself an FD i30 Trophy, same colour as mine. He replied to my jibes of congratulations on 'upgrading' and a link to the club by telling me he's very happy with it, a 2.0 petrol auto - only 53K on the odometer.
-
Ash might end up being a member too! She likes the look of this 2013 i30 Auto Tourer with 120,000 kilometres for only $9,000.
Only problem is we have to get rid of her 2010 Nissan Navara dual cab ute 1st..

The GD Tourer does look like a much sleeker package than the FD wagon. :victory:

Trish preferred the performance of her 2.0 litre FD CW to the 1.6 Tourer (although the Tourer has aged well style wise. )
Be interesting to see what a 1.6 auto drives like compared to Trish's 6 speed manual.
-
Yes, the newest auto in the family is Mrs G's PD SR Premium and that goes like a rocket, but I imagine auto still sucks a lot of power you would retain in a manual.

It's basically the same engine but without the turbo and a conventional torque converter auto instead of the DCT in Elena's car. Probably something like 3 seconds slower than Elena's SR from 0-100 kph.
Like chalk and cheese really. Trish liked her manual 1.6 Tourer but she loves her Kona with pretty much the same performance as Elena's SR. :happydance:

My mistake, caught up with Serge tonight and he clarified it's a 2010 1.6 turbo petrol. It was my assumption all the AUS petrols of that era were 2.0 non turbo.

If it's a 2010 turbo then it's a diesel (you better tell him before he refuels) :sweating:
Only ever got the 2.0 Petrol, a few 1.6 Petrol non turbo and the 1.6 Turbo Diesel in the FD in Australia. Pretty certain there was never an FD Turbo petrol anywhere in the world..

If it's a diesel, you'd know for sure, no hiding it.
The trophy was petrol only 2.0,

:wss:
But this is SA :whistler:
Perhaps Serge's 2010 FD has been crudely modified by some ethnic backyard mob that has slipped through Peter Dutton's net.
:scared:

Well then, thanks for the validation. He has a 2.0 non turbo and I'll make a repeat driveway appearance with sword if he argues the point again.

So ... (the forum's favourite opening line)
Since my last post about Serge and his new 2010 FD Trophy, he has been around to see my custom DRL job and wants one. I offered to find him the links to the eBay bits and he made the purchases, due in July. He'll be around for some post-lockdown driveway bonding as I mod his car to the same DRL spec.
Here are the links to the components, just in case anyone else is interested:
