Bit peeved , have only done 8760 km and yet time wise my i30 is due for a 30.000km service, have to get it done to keep my warranty of course.

I do a very low mileage, rather less per year than you. I use my car mainly for lots of short trips really, which probably isn't good for the engine as it is only just reaching proper operating temperatures as I turn it off at the end of the hop. :)
As it is now out of guarantee and has had a full service this year I may well skip the service bit next year and just get it MOT'd (rego I think you call it there).
Having a stamp for each servicing is good when you decide to change car. Buyers like to think the car has been looked after.

We are in a similar boat with Trish's car John. She only does 6 or 7K per year (I've done two 700 km trips in it in the last few months though to bump it up a bit...)
