The rear window defrost doesn't seem to be working.

Switch works, lights up and can hear a relay click. Wing mirrors get warm.

My understanding is that it's the same fuse?

Any ideas?

Cheers

Maybe a broken wire in the grommet from the body to the tailgate..?  Can you measure 12V at the window..?

That was my worry - it's still under warranty from the garage we bought it from so will take it back for them to have a play around with. I was just wondering if it was a common fault with an easy fix.

Thanks

The resistive "element" is only printed on the glass. It is easily damaged by solid objects or harsh cleaning or scratching. Treat it very carefully.

Check that there are no breaks in the printing pattern.

Yes that would do it any beaks pecking away at it would damage the element :snigger:   Sorry Phil childish I know but couldn't resist it. Actually you have brought up a good point I was thinking of fitting a rear crash camera and the bracket would be fixed with 3m pad ,might re think. :goodjob2:

How about making a thin 90 Deg metal bracket that fits inside the glass and rubber seal. Long enough to hold the weight of the camera. A tiny little bit of silicone sealant to make it adhesive and away you go.

Thanks Phil, not a bad idea. I have actually got an adjustable mount bracket coming that will go on the trim around the window so I will experiment with that and if no good try your idea. I have been told by someone that has used this method that the mount can be attached to the trim with 3M and when removed will not damage the trim. Sorry to go off topic on this thread, maybe I should have posted this in the Dash Cams thread. My apologies.
