Title: Buying 2012 i30 Diesel advice
Post by: Muddy 01 on June 25, 2021, 12:55:28
My daughter is looking at buying a 2012 diesel i30 with 240 000kms on the clock. The car is owned by a friend and has been all country highway driving. She is looking for fuel economy, currently has a subaru impreza and finds it a bit thirsty. My questions are, how many more kms would be left in this car, are they very economical and do they have much pick up compared to a petrol car for passing etc? Thanks

I have a 2015 UK-spec 1.6 diesel, but I don't find it to be as economical as the official figures. Mine averages about 52 miles/gallon. I'll leave you to convert that to litres/100 km

My old car which was the earlier FD diesel has now done 350,000 km and I've not touched the engine apart from regular oil changes. My current car had the same engine so I'm hoping to get similar reliability and longevity. A lot will depend on how previous owners have looked after it.
