Title: Can lock/unlock Hyundai i30, but engine cranks without starting.
Post by: Hawko133 on December 16, 2020, 03:01:51
Just stopped working for no reason. I drove it out into a paddock, and when my mate went to pick it up, he couldn’t start it, and neither can I. He says he didn't do anything, and I'm inclined to believe him.

It’s odd because we can still unlock/lock the car with the buttons, so no idea where the issue is, thinking maybe Transponder/Immobiliser?

Here is a video of it cranking, nothing seems obviously wrong from the dashboard, at least to me.

If you have any ideas on what I can do I'd appreciate it!

I've never suffered this but it looks like when the wireless receiver around the ignition key tumbler fails.

I searched for 'hyundai i30 immobilizer problem' on youtube  and there a quite a few describing your problem and how to change the keypad reader around the ignition switch.

On UK Cars at least you get a key symbol lit if the SMARTRA coill has failed, and it fires a P1690 ECU code too
