Hyundai has released confirmation that Hyundai will release a SR and wagon model for the i30.

http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mellor.nsf/

...Now I understand why didn't included the LED daytime running lights to the Active-Premium i30 models!

Great find and nice back-flip by Hyundai Australia.
I wish they'd announced it earlier.

NOOOOOOOOOO     Just when I made peace with the idea that I need to hang on to my CW for the next 9 years since the hatch is too small for my needs, they come and turn my little world upside down again  . Oh well, at least I have nearly a year to figure out some sort of justification to upgrade to the new Tourer.

The journalist, David Hassall, has been around forever so I reckon he'd be sure of his information sources.

I'm trying to estimate how much the wagon would cost.

How much more did the FD wagon cost compared to the FD hatch?

How much more did the FD wagon cost compared to the FD hatch?

Roughly $2000 but that was partly offset by better trim than the base model, indicators in the mirrors, roof bars and a few other goodies.

I will add a link to the UK website which might give an indication of the difference over there (in pounds or euros)

Thanks for that.

I noticed that they're using the same wheelbase for the GD  wagon as the hatch.  Whereas the FD wagon's wheelbase is 5cm longer.

we ordered the wife's FD cw at the Melbourne motor show, that was a long time ago.  :scared:
the word COULD keeps being used in reference to the cw link in that first post, and it says in Rusty's link the SR is a concept.  :undecided:

It does not surprise me they have done  a turn around. They have sold a lot of CWs in OZ (they are everywhere down here) and with the slowdown of sales in some of their markets they may be catching up on production.

The CW has very few competitors over here so I am sure it will come next year.  :goodjob:

Being a cynic, I wonder if it was all a marketing ploy - say the cw isn't coming to boost hatch sales then once the GD model is established, add the cw which will sell not only to existing FD cw owners, but also off the back of the new hatch's success.
It was a similar scenario with the last model - hatch first, cw second.  :undecided:

I think it is more supply driven Dave, like with the i40 .. release the top model diesels 1st then bring in the lesser models later on. It is also a way of pushing the models up market.

At the time it was reported that the wagon's production was moving to the Czech Factory and that wasn't geared up to those who drive on the correct side of the road.

I guess someone made a business case to change their mind, and we tacked onto that.

If this was always the plan, but that was the spin, who knows.

From memory the wagon is even bigger than the current one and keeps the extra rear seat legroom that we all know and love.

We might get the Czech ones with multi-link rear end.

Think this might be a slightly different link about the Corolla than the one beerman posted elsewhere..

http://news.drive.com.au/drive/motor-news/new-toyota-corolla-1000-less-than-old-one-20121018-27tmh.html

Ironically they say the corolla Wagon is unlikely to come to Australia because it is made in Europe and would work out too dear  Where have we heard that before  :whistler:

I think the difference is that the Corolla Wagon was always a lame duck sales wise (and bloody ugly, too).

Whereas the Hyundai i30 cw was the automotive equivalent of Miranda Kerr and has a great following.  :D
