so yesterday i tried rebuilding my turbo because it was making more noise than it should but the char i ordered was the wrong part but before i found it was the wrong part i took apart the turbo whilst leaving the exhaust housing on the car and then the vnt mechanism fell apart before i could get a good look at it but i managed to get it all back together with the old parts but now the car makes no boost at all so it looks like i need a new turbo how much would be a normal price to get it replaced at a mechanic

Holy cow Batman. Don't understand every thing mentioned but turbo alone I'm thinking is potentially a grand alone.
What's the char? Charger?
vnt mechanism? Variable Nozzle Turbine
nothing found doing the google to assist you?
Definitely out of my league
My wagon showed these nimbers in the catalog

What about the Motor for sale in Mirrabooka. Been isted for a while now on Gummie, maybe talk that down or try and get the turbo from that although says 220k.
The VNT actuator has a vacumn line, not knowing the operation of this , is that connected?
Just eyeballed by Turbo on the original motor of mine and it ends in 400

The turbo you need is a Garrett 2A710.
New price is $650 plus freight.

So what's the difference between the 2A400 and the 2A710?

aftermarket, how long you reckon it would last?

Don't know mate.
At this stage, this is all just one oar in the water stuff.
Having done this before, I just read the numbers and found it corresponded to a new i30 turbo for sale. (out of Singapore)
This may help too

Ok our posts are out of sync.
While this one says their turbos are ex Sydney, they actually come from China. Seem to work , One I got for the satanic Navara was a fairly good clone of the original, BUT the boost and exhaust pipes were out by 5 to 10 degrees so had to mod the original pipe set up to fit it.

Nice,
740611-0002, 775274-0003 then read replaced by 782403-0001
Using the Honeywell part finder, different again LOL but essentially 740611 and 775274 prefixed

Then a whole bunch of variants but all the repair kits were the same numbers.

Maybe we could set up a ping system for transmission --1 ping only :crazy2:
Time to see what else I can break on my car.

Just make sure you order the same part number that is already on your existing turbo. There is a few slightly different part numbers. I don't know what they mean, but to be on the safe side.
